Jessie Levillain

Since October 2026, I am a Research Scientist (CRCN) at INRAE - Université Paris-Saclay in Jouy-en-Josas (France).
I was previously a postdoctoral fellow in mathematical modeling and data hybridation for Earth Observation at CNES (Centre National des Etudes Spatiales), from December 2024 to September 2026. My aim was to develop mathematical methods to optimally combine satellite data from various sources while still being able to precisely quantify the associated uncertainty on relevant variables.
I obtained my PhD in September 2024, at CMAP (applied mathematics lab, École polytechnique), supervised by François Alouges and Aline Lefebvre-Lepot. The manuscript is available here. In 2019-2020, I was invited at Politecnico di Torino by Fabio Freschi, professor in the DENERG department. I am a former student at École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay, France.

- Euclidean Random Assignment Problems: Tracking the dynamics of identical agents observed at different timestamps.
- Earth Observation & Satellite Data: Inverse problems, variational data assimilation and machine learning for satellite data fusion and river bathymetry estimates.
- Micro-Swimmers & Biological Systems: PDE modeling, numerical methods, and fluid-structure interaction for natural (bacteria, algae, spermatozoa) and bio-inspired micro-swimmers (elastic filaments, multi-link structures).
- Dynamical Systems & Bio-Inspired Modeling: Bifurcation analysis, flagellar activation mechanisms.
- High-Performance Computational Physics: Optimization and acceleration of computationally expensive simulations for large-scale physical systems (e.g., wireless power transfer for electric vehicles).
